Micina tells: the special story of Pulzina ๐ฅ
Hello dear friends! ๐
As I promised you a few articles ago, the time has come to tell you the extraordinary story of Pulzina.
Are you ready? Get comfortable, blanket and tea in hand, it begins! ๐ต๐๏ธ
A new arrival in the garden
It was a day like any other in my kingdom, the garden that I scrutinize with attentive eyes from my favorite spot ๐ก. Yet, something strange happened. An unknown creature, proud and upright, with a red crest and bright feathers, walked majestically through the grass. I watched it with my usual feline elegance ๐ฑ, while Joy, my faithful companion, observed from afar with a mix of curiosity and wariness ๐ถ. It didn’t stay long, wandered for a few hours, and then disappeared. It was a mysterious rooster ๐.
The real surprise came the next day when a new creature appeared, very similar to the first visitor, but smaller and without that showy crest. This time it didn’t just walk around: it found a special spot in the garden and, without any warning, laid an egg there! ๐ฅ Oh, what strange behavior! Every day it returned, always to the same spot โ the lawnmower basket, as if it had been chosen especially for her โ and left another gift. My humans were thrilled with these delicious eggs, while I wondered what kind of magic it was. โจ

The dedication of a mother
One day, something even more extraordinary happened: the hen, after leaving her egg, didn’t leave. She stayed there, crouched, with a dedication that aroused in me a mix of admiration and perplexity. My humans, with their usual kindness, returned the most recent eggs to her because they might hide a future chick, and she, with great care, arranged them under herself. Thus began her long commitment: day after day she stayed there, leaving the nest only for a few minutes, just enough time to feed and stretch her legs.
After what seemed to me an eternity โ but what my humans call “twenty days” โ the miracle happened. From the eggs came small crackling sounds, then tiny little heads peeked out into the world ๐ฃ. However, only one of the chicks survived, her. The mother cared for her with a dedication that deeply moved me.
The little chick followed her everywhere, hiding under her wings when she was tired or scared. I watched her with wide eyes, fascinated by that tiny creature that seemed so fragile. Joy, on the other hand, seemed to have a mission: to protect both of them. ๐ก๏ธ

Where did the mother hen go?
As the days passed, my humans built a fence to ensure their safety. The mother, day by day, began to move away more and more. First for a few minutes, then for entire hours, until one day she decided that her mission was accomplished and returned to her garden. I didn’t understand. How could she abandon her little child like that? I found it unfair, and I wasn’t the only one: even Joy wandered around the fence with a worried look. However, Davide, after consulting with an expert, explained to me that in the world of hens this was normal. Even though I didn’t like the idea, I had to accept it.
Pulzina and the special bond with humans
Little Pulzina โ that’s what we named her โ soon learned to fend for herself. I watched her grow day by day, and I noticed that she was developing a strange habit: she followed my human family in search of food and even allowed herself to be picked up! Every morning, as soon as my humans left the house, Pulzina ran to them chirping, as if she wanted to tell them about some nocturnal adventure. And when it was time to eat, she didn’t just peck at the ground: she approached with a sly look, almost as if she wanted to choose her own meal. What a strange creatureโฆ she didn’t resemble any of the other birds I had seen in my life. Yet, it was clear that something was missing. Perhaps she felt lonely, not having other chicks to play with. ๐ฅ
The arrival of Cesarina: a friendship between feathers and freedom
And so, after some time, Cesarina arrived. I still remember the day they brought her home: another hen, but different. They told me she was destined for a terrible place, an “intensive farm” , and that she was finally free. Pulzina and Cesarina looked at each other, studied each other, and soon became inseparable. Where one went, the other followed, often accompanied by Joy, who perhaps now thinks she’s a hen too! It’s always funny to see that trio wandering around the yard. ๐

And then, to everyone’s great surprise โ especially mine and Simba’s โ Cesarina started laying eggs! ๐ฅPulzina, on the other hand, still hasn’t. “One day her time will come,” my humans often say with a smile. And anyway, what does it matter? We love her just the same. โค๏ธ
Pulzina and Cesarina: when chickens knock on the door
Now Pulzina has grown. She loves to be in company, but not too close to others, perhaps because she had to learn to fend for herself as a chick. Every now and then, with Cesarina, she does something really unusual for a chicken: instead of staying in the pen, she approaches the house door and gently taps the glass with her beak, as if she wants to be invited in. ๐ It’s her way of saying, “Hey, I’m here! Don’t forget about me!”. I watch her from my usual spot, intrigued by her strange habits and fascinated by her story.
